About Us
Web of Change is a series of conferences that connects the foremost thinkers and do-ers in the growing community of social change and technology from across North America.
From our intimate first gathering at Hollyhock in 2001 through our newest offering—the Social Tech Training—Web of Change has grown in impact and influence right alongside our industry. Our events, combined with our growing online presence, form a powerful network of support for people on the front lines of social change and help them carry forward the transformative work of creating a better tomorrow.
Our offering includes two leading gatherings, the urban Social Tech Training in Toronto, and our flagship Web of Change at Hollyhock retreat in the remote BC coastal wilderness.
Social Tech Training
Social Tech Training (STT) is a hands-on, Web 2.0 learning intensive for people working in the social change sector. This 3-day event provides a “Masters level” training for organizations that have learned the basics but still need the social media expertise, story telling skills, and campaign ideas to take their online engagement to the next level. STT offers personal attention from leaders in the field, access to the generous Web of Change network, and a custom plan to boost your online fundraising, list building, and advocacy campaigns.
See the STT page for more details and for registration.
Web of Change Retreat at Hollyhock
Since 2001, the annual WOC Hollyhock retreat has connected senior leaders and offered them the opportunity to share their world-class work with a powerful community of deeply committed peers. WOC hones professional and leadership skills, generates inspiring content, and seeds new projects, collaborations, and solutions at a multi day retreat on British Columbia’s remote Cortes Island.
See the WOC page for more information.
Web of Change isn’t a traditional organization but convening high quality events takes work, and we are grateful to our founding partners and sponsors who help this community take form.

“I feel like I learned as much in STT as I would in a good university course. My brain was exploding with new ideas, and the sessions on working gracefully with people from within the organization, and appreciating the wisdom they can add, were absolutely invaluable for all areas of my work.”
