WOC’ers love us so much!!
An inspiring email arrived last week from Ted Fickes, a past Web of Change alumnus, who had seen our announcement about the 10 tuition scholarships that we are giving away. His email was spurred by the tuition scholarship announcement, but not as you would think. Rather than submitting an application, he wanted to add to the pool of funds and help others attend! Why? Inspiration moved to action, and I quote: “[I] had tons of crazy and great conversations, started friendships and added to relationships that have had a ton to do with my work the past couple years. Try to say that about any other conference. […] If I'm not going I would still like to help.”
He wrote about the impact that Web of Change had on him and how the experience shaped and inspired positive progressive change in his life and work. When we say actions speak louder then words, this gesture is a pretty loud statement about the impact of Web of Change.

If your experience at Web of Change was just as profound and you’d like to help others attend by helping with their tuition or expenses, please see the attached form, which gives you the details of where to mail your cheque.
If you are inspired to donate, please add a comment below as an inspiration to others. Our goal is to raise $1,000 for 2009. No amount is too great or too small. Simply note "For WOC" beside the Scholarship Fund box on the form.
Thank you WOC Alumni Community for all you do!

“Web of Change isn’t a ‘wham bam here’s my business card’ conference. I made sincere personal and professional connections with people that have lasted. Five days on Cortes Island offered me the time to learn, laugh, and understand my work and my larger place in the progressive community.”

Can't go this year, but this is an inspiring event. I'm donating to help others participate in and join the Web of Change community. Enjoy!
I'm inspired, here's $100 from me
Ted, this is so cool.
A similar fundraising campaign happened, spontaneously, in 2006, that raised about $1,500 for ‘07’s event. This enabled 2 people to come who wouldn’t have been able to, and 100% of the money came from WOC’ers (individuals).
Back then I put in $100 myself, and I’ll do it again this year, to keep the ball rolling. So we’re at $350!
If Web of Change has touched your life, and you want it to help someone else feel the same love, please consider matching my or Ted’s donation, or whatever amount you can afford – even $20. 100% of your money goes to help someone attend. Best of all, beyond the good karma points, you get a full tax receipt (Canada or US).
Not much of a stretch to say
Not much of a stretch to say this but... I'm in.
Hollyhock is beyond words and Web of Change is, thankfully, unlike any other conference. I imagine that times are rough on budgets no matter what kind of work you do.
Most of the most interesting work I've done the past couple years traces itself to WOC 2007 and the conversations, discussions, ideas, inspiration there and since. Will be fabulous if this little effort can help out, get some folks up there and results in great people finding some of the secret sauce needed to make their ideas a reality.
I am in as well
I can't really describe the full impact of Web of Change on the work I do, except to say that it has been an enormous boost to, well, every aspect of my work.
From the inspiring ideas explored to the deep connections made to the generosity of spirit that infuses this whole event - I can't recommend it more strongly.
I love that I have a chance to help send someone who might not otherwise be going.
"The check is in the mail" - but this time I mean it! ;-)
