I had never participated in a space where there was absolutely no limitation to what could be achieved. We were free to reimage conventional wisdom, to challenge one another, and to dig deep to find innovative ideas. That alone makes Web of Change an important space for the progressive movement.
Derek Johnson wasn’t sure what to expect when he arrived at the Hollyhock Retreat Centre for his first Web of Change conference. “I was out of my comfort zone. Want to experience Web of Change? We’re sure to have more applicants than we have places, so please submit your application by APRIL 30, 2014 to be considered for this year's event. The Web of Change board carefully selects attendees based on your fit with our goals and culture. We strive for a representation of attendees that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve.
Nerd confessional: I love reading about composers. I liken them to fun mad scientists that make awesome art (like a 4-person string quartet played in helicopters) instead of drones. Six months ago we elected our first board of directors. This marked a not-small-at-all leadership transition for us after 12 years from our founders to the community. For accountability -- and to encourage collaboration -- below you'll find our Priorities to January 2015 (when this Board's tenure wraps for the next election.)
