Notes from the Lake: A WOCL Wrap-Up

It's been two weeks since the first-ever Web of Change Local happened near Los Angeles and the excitement hasn't warn off yet.

There were lots of questions heading into Web of Change LA. Could we recreate the Web of Change magic in a new place and with few alumni? Would Los Angeles change makers take a chance on us, especially when they didn't know Web of Change and what it has to offer? Could we start to build community in just one overnight?

The answer is, yes! Participants came to Web of Change LA ready to go "all in." Despite the short timeframe we dove deep into building relationships, workshopping common challenges and generously sharing insights and expertise.

Here's what some Web of Change LAers had to say about the experience:

"This is the beginnings of community building in a city that's short on that in our work."

"I learned there's a fantastic community in Los Angeles that is warm and committed to deep transformation."

"Loved that people came into the space open to new ideas and experiences."

Web of Change LA alumni have already started a Facebook group, met up in downtown LA and are getting active on the Web of Change listserv. Thanks to the LA-based organizing team for supporting the WOCL venture, and many thanks to all who came out to start something special in Los Angeles.
