STT Day 1 - Hitting the High Level
Social Tech Training got underway yesterday, as 65 participants from leading non-profits, education institutions, and socially responsible businesses embarked on a three day journey to explore how community building strategies of web2.0 can bolster and support their work for change.
True to form, the first presentation of the day shot big with Tim Walker of Biro Creative presenting the highlights of their recent work—including Efficiencity, the Webby Award winning DoSomething.org, and a sneak preview of their newest and yet to be released project….shhhhhhh!— in his session on Movement Building Creative.
The creative energy of visual storytelling was bolstered by Deanna Zandt’s exploration of Social Networks, the role of video and blogs by Fission’s Beka Economopolous and Cheryl Contee, and creating the ‘best email ever’ with Eric Squair—all before bringing it together with Care2’s Samer Rabadi’s session on integrated campaigns.
Though fast paced and dense with information, yesterday stood as the preliminary for the work to come. Today’s sessions feature smaller group work dedicated to the top tactical issues facing our participants. More to come on that a bit later....
