Open Everything Gets Rolling

Submitted by Sarah Pullman on Fri, 2008-05-02 16:17

We're really excited to let you know about the Open Everything Retreat, coming this fall to Hollyhock. Former WOC convener Mark Surman is at the helm, supported by Jason Mogus, David Eaves, and Mike Lewkowitz.

From the Open Everything website:

Open Everything is a global conversation about the art, science and spirit of 'open'. It gathers people using openness to create and improve software, education, media, philanthropy, architecture, neighbourhoods, workplaces and the society we live in: everything. It's about thinking, doing and being open.

Our friends at Hollyhock, the amazing place where we hold Web of Change every year, have just launched their beautiful new website.

It's packed with information about the place, its mission, why it's special, prices and logistics, and more. If you're thinking of coming to Web of Change – or if you've been to Hollyhock before – you should definitely check it out. It'll make you realize why we choose this place over any other for our event.

Social Change Institute Podcasts Up

Back in May there was a conference up at Hollyhock that I was very sad to miss – the Social Change Institute. (I used to work for the Hollyhock Leadership Insitute and it's events like that that make me wish I still did...) It was a gathering of visionaries in the social change world, and it sounded pretty incredible. You can read Jason's report-out here on an earlier blog post, if you haven't already.

Hollyhock is picking up steam in social change

For those of you who don't know much about Hollyhock, you'll be amazed at what a magical place it is. Hollyhock is a huge part of what makes Web of Change so special and unique, because it is nestled on 80 acres of untouched west coast wilderness, and is a place where transformation just seems to happen.

Hollyhock has been Canada's leading retreat centre for over 25 years. For the past 10 years, as a business it's been transitioning into hosting new types of conferences and retreats - ones that balance "kick-ass work in the world" with "spiritual and personal growth". Or, as Van Jones put it last week, "putting some feet under those prayers".

Testimonials

"Web of Change isn’t a “wham bam here’s my business card” conference. I made sincere personal and professional connections with people that have lasted. Five days on Cortes Island offered me the luxury of time to learn, laugh, and understand my work and my larger place in the progressive community."
